Shabbat at Kolot
We find joy and comfort in Jewish celebration and prayer and we base our Jewish practice on our understanding of Jewish tradition and modern innovation, and as we seek to create new forms and rituals involving story, drama, dance, literature and music. Music is a cornerstone of our worship, which encompasses a wide musical variety. Our prayer is one aspect of the congregation's expression and development, and we seek to renew it regularly through learning and experimentation.

Shabbat at Kolot
Services begin every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of membership status. Services take place at our regular worship space, Gethsemane in Park Slope, as well as on Zoom. During the month of August, services are held in the Tallis Tree Grove in Prospect Park. Torah Study takes place on Zoom and in-person before Shabbat Services at 9:00 a.m. All in-person Shabbat attendees must be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and wear masks to keep our community safe.

Kabbalat Shabbat - 3rd Fridays!
Enter Shabbat together, grounded in community with Kolot’s once-a-month musical Kabbalat Shabbat & Potluck at the Church of Gethsemane from 6:30-9:15 p.m. Led by Cantor Lisa B. Segal and Student Rabbi Hadar Ahuvia with special guests, the focus is on psalms, ritual, music, drash/words of Torah, candles, and kiddush. Gather with others to expand your sense of community and sing and pray out loud!
Dates: November 20, 2026; December 18, 2026; and January 15, 2027
Havdalah Gatherings sponsored by the Membership Engagement Committee - one Saturday a month!
Mark the end of Shabbat together with a potluck meal; an event lifting up the creativity of our congregational members who wish to share something they are doing or have done; and we end with a Havdalah service. We have hosted poetry readings; films; books Kolotniks have authored and/or edited; comics and zines; readings from works-in-progress; intergenerational sharing circles; and more!
Timing of the two-and-a-half hour event varies slightly throughout the year based on the sunset.
