Kolot Chayeinu Youth Collective

Three years ago, Noah Chasek-Macfoy (who is now in his first year of college) and Ora Wise founded KCYC.  Since then, several dynamic, creative, and confident teens have joined KCYC and lent their vision and energy- Ian, Sierra, Nathaniel, Quentin, Seth, Rachel…

We have had a great time thus far.  We have had a Youth Liberation Seder, a screening of the film “Young, Jewish, and Left”, created a collective cloth tapestry with our individual stories and identities coming together like a quilt, and have had several programs involving texts and discussions about issues and topics relevant to Jewish youth living in Brooklyn.

Now that we have this foundation, the creative ideas from the founding members, and a new coordinator—Jenny Aisenberg—we are ready to make the KCYC an official part of the Kolot Chayeinu Learning Program.

There will be:

• food
• information about the new monthly KCYC program
• registration forms to fill out
• a “town hall” discussion about needs and ideas for KCYC
• joint and seperate teen and parent activities

Kolot Chayeinu Youth Collective Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When and how often will the KCYC programs take place?

A: Just like the K-1 program, the KCYC program will be once a month. Which day of the week is still being determined.

Q: Who is KCYC for?

A: KCYC is being designed for students who are post bnei mitzvah age (whether they had a ceremony or not).  The youth who founded the collective were very committed to KCYC remaining open to friends and other youth who may not belong to Kolot Chayeinu also.

Q: How much will the program cost?

A: In the future, the fee for one student to participate in the KCYC program will be $200 for a year. This year, however, because we are beginning mid-way, the fee will be $100.
