Gemilut Chasadim/Life Transitions

Judaism today must acknowledge the uncertainty of the world and people's fears about it, and must find ways to respond, to engage, to protest, to comfort and to offer hope. -- Kolot Chayeinu Values Statement

The Gemilut Chasadim Committee (Acts of Loving Kindness) organizes help for Kolot members in times of need.  This may be following a surgery, or other trauma, or even when there is a new baby in the family.  Kolot also commits to organizing and attending one night of Shiva for a member in mourning.

Examples of the type of help we have provided in the past include: visiting the sick in the hospital, providing a meal for a family, dropping off someone’s laundry, doing a grocery-shopping trip, sitting and talking, researching heath care information, dropping off items at a rehab center, etc…

The committee regularly asks fellow Kolot members to assist members in need.  We go through the entire membership list and it is important that all Kolot members make themselves available to help a fellow member when called by the committee even when you don’t know the person in need.

We have our own budget line and donations are always welcome.  If you are a Kolotnik, please consider joining the committee.

If you need assistance, please contact Rabbi Lippmann and she will notify Gemilut Chasadim members.

"It is not your duty to complete the work, yet neither are you free to desist from it" -- Pirkei Avot
