Torah chanting class for men, taught by Eddy Ehrlich.  Thursdays, 7:45 pm at his home  Basic Hebrew reading required.  $80 for Kolot members, $120 for non-members, payable by check to Kolot Chayeinu at first class.  No previous Hebrew necessary.  SIGN-UP:  rebellen@earthlink.net

 

SHABBAT AFTERNOON LEARNING, after services, approximately 1 pm:

December 10, 17:

Blessings, traditional Jewish blessings, and modern ones, and a chance to write one needed in your life.  Free for Kolot Chayeinu members, $36 for non-members, bring a check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to the first session

December 24:

Latkes lunch and singing, for Chanukah.  Donations appreciated.

December 31 and January 7:  Break from learning, there may be lunch.

January 14 & 21

Cantor Lisa B. Segal teaching music of the Shabbat service.  Free for Kolot Chayeinu members, $18 for non-members.  Bring a check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to the session.

January 28 & Feb. 4, 2012:  

How to prepare a d'var Torah, taught by Arthur Strimling and Trisha Arlin.  Free for Kolot members, $18 for non-members.  Bring a  check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to the first class.

February 11:  Break

February 18, 17, April 21, May 5:

Torah study and Creative writing, taught by Tehila Wise (you may remember Wise's drash this year on the Akkeda on Rosh HaShanah).  $50 for Kolot Chayeinu members, $100 for non-members.  Bring check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to first session

March 31:

Prepare for Pesakh and the counting of the Omer, with Rabbi Lippmann, Student Rabbi Scott Fox, and Cantor Lisa B. Segal.  Free for all.

April 7, first day of Pesakh:  Break

April 14, 28, May 12, 19:  

Reading Pirke Avot, as is traditional between Pesakh and Shavuot.  Led by Rabbi Lippmann and Student Rabbi Scott Fox.  Free for Kolot members, $60 for non-members.  Bring check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to first session.

June 9, 16, 23 :  

"Story on Fire":  Trisha Arlin uses theater to the study and presentation of Torah.  Free for members, $60 for non-members.  Bring check payable to Kolot Chayeinu to first session.

 

TIKKUN LEIL SHAVUOT

Saturday night, May 26, 10 pm to 1 am:  Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a late night of study as we prepare to receive Torah at Sinai.  Many teachers, many ways to learn.  Free for all.

Dr. Sally Charnow introduces  us to 20th century French Jewish playwright and thinker Edmund Fleg

Sunday, March 25, 3 to 5 pm:

Student Rabbi Scott Fox leads a discussion about a Jewish short story; story to be selected.

Sunday, April 22, 3 to 5 pm:

Join Cantor Lisa B. Segal for "just for fun" group singing, a wide variety of songs.   

Sunday, June 3, 3 to 5 pm:

How to welcome Shabbat in your home, a workshop with Kolot teacher Dori Chandler.  Love to start greeting Shabbat on Friday evenings at home, but don't know how?  Learn blessings, special practices, creative ideas, and maybe even how to make challah.   Fee:  $18 for materials.
